DONATIONS TO FIREFIGHTERS

Our members cannot accept cash, cash-equivalents (such as gift cards) or other items of value for personal use in exchange for or in appreciation of services we provide.  Although we’re truly grateful for the gestures, any cash or cash-equivalents received by our members are required to be forwarded to our Community Partnership Fund for redistribution to people who have suffered a loss or are otherwise in need.

To best express appreciation to our crews, consider the following alternatives (starting with our favorites):

    1. Tell your friends and family and/or write a letter to the editor about your experience
    2. Post a note on our Facebook page
    3. Schedule a visit to meet with the crew personally
    4. Send a letter or card
    5. Make a donation in honor of NKF&R Firefighters to your favorite local charity
    6. Make a donation to our Community Partnership Fund (see description below)
    7. Make a donation to our Household Fund (see description below)
    8. Make a donation to our General Fund (see description below)

NORTH KITSAP FIRE & RESCUE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FUND

Most department members contribute on a monthly basis to this account which is entirely separate from the department’s publicly-funded budget. The Partnership Fund provides resources that allow us to provide emergency assistance – food, shelter, clothing, gas money, taxi fare, etc – to citizens in need. It also pays for smoke alarm, bike helmet, life jacket and car seat programs as well as other safety initiatives. The fund, managed by a committee of department members, may also occasionally make donations to local charities.
